Pastor Gets Tattoo of Cross After Church Breaks Attendance Record on Easter Sunday.

  Rev. Leon Bloder, the lead pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Eustis, Fla., has promised to get a tattoo of the church's logo on his leg if his church breaks attendance records on Easter Sunday.

A Florida pastor got a tattoo of his church's emblem after promising his congregants he would do so if they broke the church's attendance record on Easter Sunday. 

The Rev. Leon Bloder of First Presbyterian Church in Eustis, Florida agreed to have his church's emblem tattooed on his leg after some 850 people showed up for Easter Sunday services, which was nearly double the church's usual weekend attendance of 450.

The pastor's new tattoo, which he received Thursday, includes a large black cross on his left calf. He told the local WKMG-TV that he chose to uphold his promise of getting the tattoo to show his commitment to God and the gospel.

"That's how committed I am to getting them excited about their church and what we're doing," Bloder said. "Hopefully, it'll rub off a little bit. I don't expect them to all go get tattoos, but at least they'll know that their pastor is willing to go all out. So, that's cool."

Bloder also promised to have his long hair, that goes down to his shoulders, cut if his congregation broke their attendance record on Easter Sunday. The pastor said in a press release in early April that this promise received a cheer from the more traditional members of his congregation.

Are the three main parties being driven mad by panic? I ask this because an organisation that draws its support from the Tories, Labour and the Lib Dems will tomorrow condemn Ukip as racist.

The all-party Migration Matters Trust is launching a campaign backed by posters and social media. Its intervention comes days after the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt unwisely condemned Ukip as an unpatriotic and divisive party that attracts racists.

There is no mystery about what is happening. The major parties are rattled by Ukip's strong performance in opinion polls — which show it either ahead of the field, or neck-and-neck with Labour for the European elections, which are only three weeks away.

Understandable though it may be, I can think of no strategy more likely to backfire against the mainstream parties, and to boost Ukip's prospects. It suggests they have learnt nothing from the Ukip phenomenon.

I accept, of course, that the party harbours a few racists. In the past week, a Ukip functionary has been suspended after tweeting criticisms of Nigerians and Islam, and a candidate has suggested that the black comedian Lenny Henry 'should emigrate to a black country'. This came after Mr Henry said there should be more people from ethnic minorities on television.

But the offensive comments of a handful of Ukip members do not prove that the party as a whole is racist, or that the policies it is putting before the British people could be reasonably so described.

I am actually starting to believe that the UKIP is feeding on the negative publicity.
UKIP was rated at 31 per cent in the YouGov poll for The Sunday Times yesterday. This was three per cent higher than Labour and way ahead of the Tories on 19 per cent and the Liberal Democrats on 9 per cent. 
(This poll is even worse news for leftists and europhiles than this appears. On those guaranteed to vote - it rises to 36%!)

W.E. SANGSTER (1900-1960)

William E. Sangster was one of the great British Methodist preachers of the 20th century.  He did all he could to hold the Methodist denomination to its Biblical roots during the tumultuous times of religious compromise.  He ascended to the pulpit of London's Westminister Central Hall in 1939, just in time to lead his congregants through the terrors of World War II. His great sermon,What If Calamity Comes? deals with those times. His sermons were regularly halted by bombings in the city.  Sometimes he preached through them, telling hearers, "Those of a nervous disposition may leave now."  During the five years of German bombing, Sangster virtually lived in the great bomb shelter below the church building.  In 1949, he was elected leader of the Methodist Conference of Great Britian, ephasizing evangelism and spiritual growth.  He was a great student of homeletics, authoring several books on preaching, including The Craft of Sermon Construction. He died in 1960 of progressive muscular atrophy, an incurable neurological disease.

Two things have ignited me this week, the second this morning with the Huffington Post coverage of the Lenny Henry triviality - the bias and structuring of the story is breathtaking. Any excuse to repeat every previous indiscretion even when they are dealt with.

I've listened to Drive on FiveLive for 10+ years and therefore heard Peter Allen conduct 1000s of interviews. Never have I heard such bile and ferocity at an interviewee as Paul Nuttall had to endure. Allen would not let him finish a single sentence. Seemed like a pre-determined and planned attack.

The contradiction between David Cameron’s claim that he values Britain as a Christian country and his government’s track record in “ripping apart” Christian values and freedoms, was emphasised by Andrea Williams of Christian Concern, in an interview on Revelation TV.

She said the reality was the Prime Minister’s support for evangelical Christianity made in a speech to mark Easter, came just weeks after he celebrated with the rainbow flag flying over Whitehall, the introduction of same-sex marriage.  She described this single act as a major assault on the truth of Christianity and a destructive blow to the most important building block of society – marriage between one man and one woman.

Andrea listed actions by the Prime Minister which contrasted with his public statements of support for Christian principles.  These included government lawyers at the European Court of Human Rights opposing the right of a worker to wear a cross as a Christian symbol, suggesting that the freedom of Christians to live out their faith in the workplace was their freedom to resign, which was no freedom at all.

She told viewers that Christian freedoms could not be confined to David Cameron’s politics, echoing the words of media commentators that the Prime Minister and some of his Cabinet colleagues were choosing to defend Christian interests in the aftermath of widespreasd criticism of the redefinition of marriage and in the sensitive run-up to the European Elections.

Singapore Crime Rates: I Wonder Why?

Singapore’s overall crime rate in 2012 fell by 2 per cent as compared to that in 2011, as announced by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in their annual crime report released on 6 February 2013. (Sorry to be so late with these most interesting stats.)
Tough punishments work. Ergo, this means that those who do not agree with tough punishments must be supportive of crime - irrespective of what utterances they make to the contrary.
Over 60 years of intolerance to crime reduction means that we have far more crime than we should. The message is that CRIME IS ACCEPTABLE!

Advocacy.

In the recent months two Christian leaders were murdered in Tanzania; thousands of Syrian Christians have become refugees; and a pastor in Mali was forced to warn his congregation to flee when he discovered that Muslim fundamentalists were planning to kill all Christians. These aren’t just isolated events - it’s time to speak out once again for Christians facing persecution!

Clegg Was Disingenuous.

You have referenda in our country when there’s an important question to answer, when important powers are being transferred to the European Union.

But powers already have been transferred without a referendum in the Single European Act, Maastricht Treaty, Consolidated Treaty, Nice Treaty and Lisbon Treaty.

The Lisbon Treaty is a ‘self-amending’ Treaty, which means that further powers can be transferred under that Treaty.  There may not be another Treaty to vote on. 

We’re already owed a referendum.  And Clegg promised a referendum on the EU before the 2010 General Election, then abstained when one was on the table.
