England Beat The Aussies.

With the Aussies set for a high total batting first at Edgbaston, complete disarray ensued when Wood and Rashid smashed through their mid to late order.
Chasing 278 - England sagged to 35 for 3 and were looking defeat in the face as Jason Roy failed for the sixth consecutive innings. (He must not risk our progress by being included in the forthcoming semi-final lineup.)
Skipper Morgan and Ben Stokes came to the crease.
Records tumbled as this fourth wicket pair held their nerve with some breathtakingly good batting and another Stokes century before a poor mix-up saw Eoin depart only a few runs short of his own arrival at three figures.

Terrific stuff - but rain ended the innings with England poised for victory. The Duckworth-Lewis method awarded them a comfortable 40 run win - which seemed a tad unflattering.
England did not need the win, of course, having already qualified for the semis - but the Aussies did.
Losing this one meant that the Bangladeshis qualified - and will be met again by the England side which has already beaten them should both progress to the final.
So, we shall bid a fond farewell to the antipodeans with a smile and a friendly wave!
