MARGOT Parker MEP has called for prosecutions in the fight against female
genital mutilation.
Her call comes as Barnardos announced it will lead a new £2.1m FGM
prevention scheme in England to stamp out the practice and support
victims.
Mrs Parker, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands and the party’s Women’s and
Equalities spokesperson said: “I welcome the news of the new prevention scheme
but we must start to prosecute those responsible for this barbaric
practice.
“The physical and mental trauma this disgusting practice causes is
heart-breaking for the victims.
