Margaret Hilda Thatcher and Economic Awareness.

Mrs Thatcher tried to introduce Economic Awareness into the school curriculum. It was desperately needed as, in the 80s, people seemingly believed that: money grows on trees; credit cards give you free cash; you can borrow recklessly; other people should pay your bills and that government support comes from the 'magic money tree'.
You can see why this strategy was needed back then. Fortunately, today we have moved on ... er, wait a minute ... no we haven't! We are actually a great deal worse.
I wonder if Corbyn would have got the degree of support he did in the General Election from youngsters who actually possessed some level of 'economic awareness'?
There is a profound moral dimension to this question - fully supported by Scripture! Maggie was right. Educate people into the social realities. A 'benefits culture' acts a s drag down on the whole of society - and ironically, makes all of us poorer.
'But it didn't work!' - Do I hear you shriek?
I was small cog in the education machine and the entire idea was neatly sabotaged by the bureaucrats of the left aided by leftist teachers who were determined that this 'dangerous knowledge' must never reach school children - and it didn't!
