A Home Office report has concluded that convicts who have served sentences of less than 12 months are 50% more likely to reoffend within two years of release than those locked up for between one and four years.It is not clear whether this refers to time actually served but seems to indicate that this is the case.
Amazing. The more severely criminals are punished, the less they offend. Who would have thought it?
