Fat not all that bad?

"Striking findings show the fittest fat men and women aged 60 and over are more likely to live to a ripe old age than their averagely weighted or slim - and less fit - peers."
Although I know a grotesquely overweight rugby player who died at 34, his family genes and history clearly showed that the poor chap would never reach 50.
Maybe I am unusual - [pause to allow personal mockery and brickbats] - but virtually all of the people that I have known who have died from heart related problems have been slim - slight even - and typically below average height.
As for strokes, they appear to be evenly spread - and the same with diabetes. ALL of these areas in my personal experience, are outside the pronouncements of accepted medical wisdom.
My medical-researching friend insists that heart attack deaths are split pretty equally into 3 identifiable groups: high cholesterol, average cholesterol and low cholesterol.
At 2 full stone overweight (it was three), I have a vested interest in all of this.
