The cost of court translation services for defendants and witnesses who cannot speak English has nearly doubled in three years.
Non-English speakers cost the courts system £16.7 million in 2004-05. But that figure ballooned to £29.3 million for 2007-2008, according to figures released yesterday.
In all, more than £90 million has been spent on interpreters in magistrates and crown courts over the past three years.
AND crime is falling according to Labour.
