I have no philosophical sense of opposition to Identity Cards but the practicalities are quite something different - costs and bureaucratic inefficiency to name just two.I am also quite unimpressed with the facile argument "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."
I perhaps might have something to hide. I am a Christian and oppose the demagogical EU and despise the cosy consensus of British politics.
In the present climate, that combination is becoming increasingly insecure.
The bottom line however is the vital question: "Do you trust your government to demonstrate integrity with the system at all times?" - Sadly, I am afraid that I cannot!
