A certain Mr McCarty of Northumbria University [?] has recently addressed a major conference on psychology and has explained why 'men who make women laugh have a much better chance of bedding them'.He went on to state the magic words to consolidate his point ... "From an evolutionary perspective ...". At this juncture, I gave up reading about what he had to say.
How could anything stated by some pseudo scientist on this topic be anything other than a piece of wild extrapolation mingled with total guesswork?
Although perhaps, "The wit of cavemen and satire in Cro Magnons " might make quite a good title which he could use for a book.
Mind you. I may be wrong on this one. Maybe cave women did fall about laughing every time Grog picked his nose and were turned on by a touch of farce and a bit of slapclub - but now I have started to speculate.
