Sir Thomas More.


Thomas More was the 'hero' of Robert Bolt's A Man For All Seasons and we all merrily accepted that film portrayal. If top historian Hilary Mantel's novel Wolf Hall is to be believed however, he was a decidedly unpleasant piece of work.
With history - you always have the problem of sorting truth from partisan ideas - and indeed from outright propaganda.
Which depiction of More is the true one?
I haven't the slightest idea!
