Professor Heathcote - Obituary.

Very few of my readers will have known, or even known of, AA Heathcote, Hughes Professor of Hispanic Studies (Emeritus) of Sheffield University.
From 1970 to 1974 he demonstrated to me and my fellows his tongue-in-cheek genius and it is hard to imagine a better lecturer in any subject, in any era.
His speciality was Spanish Golden Age Drama although when he directed me and members of the student body in Lorca's Zapatera Prodigiosa, he proved genius to a crowded University Drama Studio, in a rather different area.
A full 26 years after I had left the department, he tracked me down to my place of work in order to proffer personal congratulations after I had won The Fifteen To One Grand Final on Channel 4.
Amongst many good lecturers - he stood proud - head and shoulders above them all.
Tony left us on the 25th of November after a short illness.

Shame on YOU, Channel 4!
