The flaw in the 'rich are taking all the cake' arguments from the left is that there may well be a 'a cake' but it is not of a fixed size. An economy either grows or shrinks according to the relationship between politicians, entrepreneurs and free markets. Growing economies bring prosperity, shrinking ones ....
Under socialism, economies rarely expand because of the politics of envy. This is the principle reason why the poor are relatively poor in western democracies.
Once socialists have introduced a welfare dependency culture which is not based on merely helping those who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own - the entire system is undermined for all of society.
