However, my views have been moderated to a
considerable extent after being pushed into reading his excellent 2012 novel,
Two Brothers, which looks at life for Jews in the Berlin of the 20s and
throughout the Hitler years.
Using materials based on events which happened to
members of his own family - we find no hint of a socialist diatribe but rather a
well balanced assessment of Nazi atrocities and evidence of an historical
understanding combined with some excellent storytelling.
Compelling.
