Disqualified Drivers Who Kill CAN Soon Face Ten Year Sentences.

Mr Grayling - too little, too late! When I was  a Chairman of Magistrates, I was sickened by the 'liberalisation' of sentencing on disqualified drivers. It was the fault of Blunkett who oversaw a shift which meant that driving whilst disqualified was no longer 'entry point custody'.
I once taught a young man who, in later life, killed six people, driving on the wrong side of the road - he was also drunk and disqualified. The judge tried to give him 15 years but it was reduced to ten.
Causing death whilst disqualified must carry a mandatory minimum of ten years and sentences should tend to be much higher!
