My EU Awakening.

The principal reasons why I have actively fought the EU for 15 years were because I found it what it was. A UKIP table in Shrewsbury town centre in 2001 had half a dozen leaflets with EU scandal information. Yeah, yeah. More cranks. I took the leaflets home and researched every claim. All were 100% correct.
The democratic deficit alone was sufficient cause to leave as were: the imperialist agenda; profligacy with our taxes; overweening bureaucracy,; hideous expense; loss of fishing grounds, bullies; an insane Common Agricutural Policy; wicked tariffs on third world nations trying to export to us; suicidal levels of protectionism and perhaps above all - an EU whose share of world trade was, and is, in freefall.
Supporting the EU is a kind of wild idealism built around an ostrich mentality.
The thing will die - it has to - as do all edifices constructed on sand!
