Fire him! Senegalese football team REFUSES to accept Lord Sugar's apology over 'racist' tweet about their World Cup bid as a Government aide demands the BBC sack him from The Apprentice.
The Senegalese football team has called for Lord Alan Sugar to be fired during their World Cup bid over a 'racist' tweet he put up on his social media, but later apologised for. He tweeted an offensive image of the team alongside knock-off handbags and glasses. Lord Sugar was labelled 'ignorant' and his comments 'hurtful' by youth and sport advisor to the country's president Macky Sal, Ndongo Ndiaye. The businessman attempted to play off the picture as a joke but players and fans were left furious. Despite racism fears over the black and ethnic minority players going to the World Cup, Senegalese players, officials and fans had not experienced any racism, Mr Ndiaye said, with their only concern being over Lord Sugar's tweet. A tad crass maybe - but if this is 'racism' then the word has been utterly devalued.
Yet again, important matter being decided on 'fluffy feelings' rather than hard pragmatism. (And, BTW, I really do not care for Alan Sugar.)
