Pleading Her Belly.

A woman likely to be sentenced to death, in the seventeenth century and beyond would often claim to be pregnant ie) 'to plead her belly' to escape execution.
That age is considered as barbaric by the snowflakes of today for exercising the death penalty.
Indeed, 'pleading their bellies' was the response of those infamous women pirates, Mary Read and Anne Bonny.
Odd, isn't it? So many of those self-same, holier-than-thou snowflakes would today support ripping living children out of the womb thereby killing them.
So which era was the more civilised, ours or theirs?
