Had we still been in the EU, as with the Greek financial meltdown when we were forced to pay £9 billion to that nation, with barely a week's notice, we would surely have been bled dry as Brussels would inevitably have insisted that we contribute a huge proportion of that figure.
How then could any UK government have possibly spent the multi-billion pound funding necessary to ameliorate the knock-on effects of the virus?
Instead of our economy being hammered - it may well have received a death blow!
There are already many rumblings throughout the nation states of the EU which are suggesting a possible implosion of the bloc.
We are well rid and escaped only in the nick of time.
