Weather permitting, the test match will come to an early conclusion today.

Chasing 251 with all 10 wickets intact - it should be a cakewalk for the English batsmen. They are not even going to have to bat on a fifth day wicket.

England's remarkable removal of the Aussies for just 263 in their second innings was an epic performance from both Broad and Wood. The success of the England attack was even more astonishing considering that neither Stokes nor Robinson were available to bowl because of injury.

The problem, of course, is that England's batsmen - sorry, I meant batspersons - have been wildly unpredictable, infected as they have been by 'bazball' hysteria.

Had we played the previous two tests in a measured manner, we would have been hoping to have brought the Ashes home, this afternoon. Sigh!

If the England batsmen bat positively but not recklessly - this is a win waiting to happen. If only I were a tad more optimistic ...
