Blogger: I do not deny climate change - it happens ALL the time. (Romans growing grapes in Britain; ice fairs on the Thames etc, etc.)
That current climate change is as serious as reported (The New Religion) is highly doubtful. Our current summer is not 'proof' of anything. Why not compare it to the really long hot summer of 1976? - Because it is inconvenient to do so.
That climate change is man-made is true - but to a very small extent.
All the muck that man has put into the atmosphere throughout history can be equalled or bettered by a single giant volcano: Tarawera, Krakatoa, Taramora etc.

Climate changers lie and/or exaggerate. 'Leading scientists' on glacier reduction that don't actually know that the Piedmont glacier is growing? In all honesty - how can this be?

Contains Some Truth But IMHO - Highly Questionable Logic Used in Places.

Come On You Anglicans - Reject Cult Status!

Lambeth Conference 2022: Anglican bishops asked to reaffirm Lambeth 1.10

An orthodox fellowship of Anglicans is asking bishops at the Lambeth Conference to reaffirm Lambeth 1.10 as the "official teaching of the Anglican Communion on marriage and sexuality".
Resolution 1.10 was passed at the 1998 Lambeth Conference and upholds marriage as a union between a man and a woman for life, while rejecting homosexual practice as incompatible with Scripture.
At the 2022 Lambeth Conference taking place this week in Canterbury, Kent, formal resolutions have been replaced by 'Calls' on topical issues.
A reaffirmation of Lambeth 1.10 was dropped from the Call on Human Dignity after a backlash by liberal bishops.
In response, the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) has issued a resolution of its own for bishops to sign.
The invitation to support the resolution has also been extended to the Archbishop of Canterbury, who met with GSFA members on Saturday.
The GSFA resolution "upholds faithfulness in marriage between a man and a woman in lifelong union, and believes that abstinence is right for those who are not called to marriage".
It rejects homosexual practice as incompatible with Scripture and "cannot advise the legitimising or blessing of same sex unions nor ordaining those involved in same gender unions".
A final clause urges all Anglican provinces to take renewed steps to abide by this stance.
In the preamble to the resolution, GSFA Chairman Archbishop Justin Badi said: "Anglican identity is first and foremost grounded in the Holy Scriptures, and in such teachings of the ancient Fathers and Councils of the Church.
"Lambeth Resolution 1.10 of the 1998 Lambeth Conference is a test of faithfulness to this doctrinal standard, because it explicitly applies the clear and historic teaching of Scripture to matters of sexual morality.
"The resolution does not take its authority from the Lambeth Conference, but from Holy Scripture."
Commenting on the decision to issue the resolution, Archbishop Badi said: "We are living at a time of great spiritual confusion and moral flux.
"The Church of Jesus Christ cannot afford to lose its moorings in Holy Scripture and drift with the world.
"Based on the need to establish clear doctrine on marriage and sexuality at this defining moment for the Anglican Communion, this conference must reaffirm the biblical teaching of Lambeth Conference 1998 Resolution 1.10."

Kirill Must Go?

Ukrainian church seeks Kirill's removal over 'heretical' defence of Russian invasion.

(RNS) — Metropolitan Epiphanius, the head of the independent Orthodox Church of Ukraine, has issued a letter to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, "first among equals" of Orthodox Christian leaders, asking Bartholomew to call Patriarch Kirill, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, a teacher of heresy for his theological backing of the Ukraine war and deprive Kirill of his right to lead the Russian church.
The letter was approved at a meeting of the synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine on July 27 on the eve of the feast day of the Baptism of the Kyivan Rus. The feast day, which commemorates the baptism of medieval Kyiv, has also been designated as Ukrainian Statehood Day by the Ukrainian government.
"Each murdered child, each raped woman, each destroyed residential building and temple is not only a war crime, but also an act of renouncing Christ," the letter reads.
"The moral responsibility for the committed crimes rests not only on the direct perpetrators, but also on their ideological inspirers — Moscow Patriarch Kirill and like-minded hierarchs who for decades propagated the ethno-phyletic and racist doctrine of the 'Russian World' and are now blessing the attack on Ukraine."
The "Russian World" teaching imagines a transnational Russian civilization with a political center in Moscow, spiritual center in Kyiv, common language and religion (Russian and Russian Orthodoxy) and traditionalist social values in opposition to the "globalized" and "liberalized" West.
Tensions have been rising for years between the Moscow church and the Ecumenical Patriarch, who resides in modern-day Istanbul. Kirill broke communion with the Ecumenical Patriarch in October 2018, ahead of Bartholomew's decision to recognize the Orthodox Church of Ukraine as a canonical, independent church in early 2019.
Since then, Moscow has encroached on territory historically overseen by the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria, Theodore II, by setting up a parallel network of churches on the African continent, which is under the authority of the Greek church. Moscow's first African churches appeared after Theodore joined with Bartholomew to recognize the independent Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
According to the July 27 letter, Kirill aims to "radically increase the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia ... and in this way impose hegemony and the dictates of the Moscow Patriarch on the Orthodox world."
The letter cited the Declaration on the Russian World Teaching, published in March, which calls out the "Russian World" teaching as heretical and further "rejects all forms of government that deify the state (theocracy) and absorb the Church, depriving the Church of its freedom to stand prophetically against all injustice."
The declaration, which remains unaffiliated with any official Orthodox church institution, has since been signed by nearly 1,500 Orthodox theologians across the globe (including many clergy).
Wednesday's letter also made reference to an Open Address to the Heads of the Orthodox Churches, made by members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which, unlike the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, maintained ties to the Moscow patriarchate. This statement similarly condemns Kirill's support of the "Russian World" teaching and questions his right to occupy the position of Patriarch.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which long predates the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, still refuses to recognize the independent church, though an unofficial meeting between clergy of the two groups, facilitated by the Ukrainian government, took place earlier this month.
While the Orthodox Church of Ukraine's letter is addressed to the Ecumenical Patriarch, the letter speaks to concerns for the entire global Orthodox Christian community. "It is important to understand that the ideology of the modern ROC (Russian Orthodox Church) contains a threat not only for Ukraine," the letter states, "but also for the entire Orthodox world."
"Russia is a country that for centuries linked its identity with Orthodoxy," the letter also says, but has since "been insidiously replaced by a civil religion that is apparently based on Orthodox tradition, but alien to the spirit of the Gospel and content of the Orthodox faith of the Holy Fathers."
According to the official Twitter account of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ecumenical Patriarch talked with Zelenskyy on July 28, expressing his continued support for Ukraine in light of Russia's aggression. No official statement regarding the Orthodox Church of Ukraine's letter has yet been made by the Ecumenical Patriarch.

Restoring The Prophetic Voice of Christianity.

Can the Church regain its prophetic voice?

salt
“You are the salt of the earth.”
Most of us are familiar with these words. They were spoken by Jesus to His disciples in the Sermon on the Mount, pointing to our calling to be a moral conscience as well as a holy preservative to society in decay. But are we as familiar with the Lord’s warning that followed?
Jesus continued,
“but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” (Matthew 5:13)
This is exactly what has happened to the Church of America in recent years. Because we have lost our saltiness, we have been scorned, discarded, and ridiculed, almost literally “trampled under people’s feet.”
We who were called to be shining lights in the darkness failed to shine.
We who were called to be prophetic voices to the world failed to preach to ourselves.
We who were supposed to be different proved to be just as corrupt and carnal and compromised as the rest.
We who were supposed to bring heaven’s values down to earth became as earthly as everyone else.
We were rocked by one major scandal after another.
We got caught up in partisan politics.
We were known better for our acrimony than for our love, for our division rather than our unity, for our hypocrisy rather than our holiness.
As a result, the name of our Lord has been mocked and many have left the church.
The good news is that God gives grace to the humble, and if we will get low before Him, confess our sins, turn from the compromise and carnality in our own lives, and seek Him earnestly, He will answer from heaven.
He will have mercy. He will forgive. And He will restore.
By His grace and mercy, we can regain our prophetic voice, but it will take patience. It will take perseverance. And it will take a real demonstration of our faith on a day-by-day, grassroots level.
In other words, it will take Christians living as Christians.
As Jesus said in the verses that immediately followed His words quoted above,
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14–16)
As we let our light shine. As we do good deeds, helping those in our community in need. As we love our neighbors as ourselves. As we take a real interest in people’s lives, they will take notice. They will recognize our sincerity. They will receive our help. And many will give glory to our Father. (Those of you who have been living like this for years know that this is true.)
And from that stance of loving service, we can regain our footing in society, especially if we are able to avoid another wave of massive scandals.
Let us be known for our integrity. And our solid marriages and families. And our kindness. And our trustworthiness.
As we are, our voices will be heard more and more, not as the claptrap of religious hypocrites but as the trumpet blast of a moral conscience that cuts to the heart.
In fact, I believe that the stage has been set by God Himself as millions of Americans struggle with uncertainty and fear, from the trauma and devastation of COVID to the current economic turndown. What is coming next?
Millions of Americans also recognize that our society is losing its mind, with the government fighting for boys to share locker rooms with girls and compete against them in sports and with leading figures unable to define what is a woman. What in the world is going on?
This is where we step in with a message of hope and comfort and truth and eternal life. This is where we tell people there is a better way – God’s way. This is where we urge people to turn away from that which is wrong and turn to the only One who can set things right.
This is where we preach the Gospel and live the Gospel.
Now is also the perfect time to show that we have learned our lessons from past elections and that we will not get obsessed with partisan politics to the point of our social media pages sounding like the latest TV attack ads. (In this context, I would encourage you to check out my newest book, due out shortly, The Political Seduction of the Church: How Millions Of American Christians Have Confused Politics with the Gospel – but I warn you in advance: this book does not tickle ears.)
God has called us to be different in the best sense of the word, to stand out as salt and light because of His grace at work in us. To the extent that we live out our faith in the days ahead, we can regain our voice. And somehow, even defying nature, we can become salty again.

Double Standards? - Yes.

The faith double standard.

faith believe The word faith is silhouetted against an orange and blue sunset. The I in the word is made from a figure with their arms raised up in the air in a successful victory pose. |
If you emotionally and mentally short circuit while watching the bizarre beliefs and actions of non-Christians become literally more bizarre on a daily basis, then I recommend you take the advice I heard William Lane Craig dole out on one of his podcasts: Don’t expect non-Christians to think and live like Christians.
Don’t you feel better now?
Trust me, letting this truth settle into your soul is calming for you as well as for the unbelievers with which you interact. You won’t go insane trying to figure out why people do what they do and you’ll be much less likely to wag your finger at non-Christians and instruct them to fall in line with a standard to which they can’t adhere.
That’s right – it’s not just that they don’t want to live by God’s laws, they can’t obey His standards for living.
Listen to what Paul says: “The mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God” (Rom. 8:7-8, my emphasis). Paul also writes to the Corinthians, “But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised” (1 Cor. 2:14, my emphasis).
This inherent moral inability is also why Jesus said this about salvation: “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:44) and why Paul told his readers: “The word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing” (1 Cor. 1:18).
Witnessing to but not expecting or coercing non-Christians to live like Christians benefits everyone, but here’s the rub: don’t expect the other side to return the favor.

Live and let die

Jesus’ first-century world had every appearance of live and let live where religion was concerned. Lots of people, lots of gods, and lots of different moral and religious practices.
Fast forward 2,000 years and you have the same type of thin veneer of acceptance in our culture. Words like diversity, inclusion, etc., all dominate the airwaves, corporate HR departments and entertainment.
But just like in Jesus’ day, if a Christian steps out of the invisible boundaries set by those dominating the secular culture or makes any exclusive claims about morality and God, then live and let live becomes live and let die. Put another way: non-Christians expect Christians to ultimately and practically go about life in public like non-Christians.
We’re expected to accept, celebrate and participate in the reality-bending assertions and anti-Biblical behaviours of unbelievers. We’re required to stay silent and compliant as God is systematically removed from society. We’re told not to push our beliefs on anyone, yet sit back quietly while the beliefs of others are pushed on us.
This is the double standard of the secular philosophy marinating our culture in its faith. And it is a faith, one even recognized by the IRS.
Philosopher John Dewey admitted such in his book A Common Faith, where he says: “Let’s take it [humanism] and make it the militant religion of the public schools. … Here are all the elements for a religious faith that shall not be confined to sect, class, or race. Such a faith has always been implicitly the common faith of mankind. It remains to make it explicit and militant.”
Its double standard tells us to keep our religion out of the public realm, while simultaneously telling us its religion should be welcomed and have a home in society. Its reasoning, though, fails at all levels as one Christian leader said: “To say religious reasoning must be kept out of the public square because it’s faith-based and controversial is itself a faith-based statement which is incredibly controversial, and therefore on its own terms ought to be thrown out.”
The amusing but sad thing about humanism and the pragmatic philosophy that it trumpets is that its litmus test for truth — does the prescribed teaching ‘work’ — doesn’t work. Not at all. When you have super woke CEOs like that of Starbucks admitting that current public policies are destroying society, you know something’s up.
Fine, but what about the outworkings of Christianity? Doesn’t it poison everything as the late atheist Christopher Hitchens said?
First, we have to admit that history shows marrying Christianity and politics has mostly resulted in disaster and the very thing the Bible says you can’t do: make non-Christians live like Christians. But when the Christian faith is practiced as Christ taught, then it’s a radically different story.
Back in the first century, the religion that the Greeks and Romans hated and falsely accused as being exclusivist became the most inclusive of all faiths. Why? Because the secular false religion proved to be hypocritically false, while Christianity justified itself.
In the Christian church, were there rich and poor divisions like those in Athens and Rome? No, all were welcomed and treated equally. What about the racial divides as seen with the Jews and Samaritans? Again, all were accepted and treated the same.
The reason that happened and Christianity subsequently exploded is because believers back then understood that God chooses the lowly (1 Cor. 1:26-31) and that they were many times inferior when it came to measuring up to others in the world.  Their understanding of God’s grace produced great humility and thus they mirrored Christ who loved those that hated and crucified Him.
Admittedly that is hard to do as is this: “when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure; when we are slandered, we try to conciliate” (1 Cor. 4:12). But if you think you can’t hack it, I’ve got good news for you: you actually can. Remember, “with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26).  CP.

Soul-Saving Is The Duty of EVERY Christian?

Jordan Peterson urges Christians to focus on their holy duty, save souls before it’s ‘too late’

Jordan PetersonJordan Peterson |
In a “Message to the Christian Churches,” world-renowned Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson warned that young people, especially men, are facing an unparalleled demoralization due to the West’s weaponized guilt, and, therefore, the Church should leave aside social justice and other modern obsessions and save souls before “it’s too late.”
“It is, of course, completely presumptuous of me to dare to write and broadcast a video entitled ‘Message to the Christian Churches,’” Peterson said at the beginning of his video posted on YouTube. “But I’m going to do it anyway, because I have something to say and because that something needs to be said.”
He said that over the last four years, as he spoke about a psychological approach to the Bible, the majority of his listeners have been young men.
“In the West, because of the weight of historical guilt that is upon us, a variant of the sense of original sin in a very real sense, and because of a very real attempt by those possessed by what might be described as unhelpful ideas to weaponize that guilt, our young people face a demoralization that is perhaps unparalleled.”
Peterson added, “This is particularly true of young men, although anything that devastates young men will eventually do the same to young women,” referring to anti-natalism and nihilism.
“When they are children, boys are hectored for their toy preferences, which often include toy weapons, such as guns, and their more boisterous playing style, as boys require active rough and tumble play even more than girls, for whom it is also a necessity. When in grade school, boys are admonished, shamed and controlled in a very similar manner by those who think that play is unnecessary, particularly if it’s competitive, and who value a docile, harmless obedience above all.”
The inculcation of “an extremely damaging ideology” consists of three accusations, he explained.
“Human culture, particularly in the West, is best construed as an oppressive patriarchy motivated by the desire, willingness and the ability to use power to attain what are purely selfish and self-serving ends. …
“The second accusation is that human activity, particularly that undertaken in the West, is fundamentally a planet despoiling enterprise. The human race is a threat to the ecological utopia that existed before us and could hypothetically exist after us in our absence. …
“The third accusation. The prime contributor to the tyranny that makes up the oppressive patriarchy and structures all of our social interactions past and present and the unforgiveable despoiling of our beloved mother Earth is damnable male ambition, competitive and dominating, power-mad, selfish, exploitative, raping and pillaging.”
Peterson said people in the West are facing “an all-out assault at the deepest levels … an attack on civilization itself.”
The young men who are “deeply conscientious, capable of guilt and regret,” now believe that “every deep impulse that moves them out into the world for the adventure of their life — even that impulse drawing them to women — is nothing but the manifestation of the spirit that is essentially satanic in nature.”
He said this is wrong “theologically, morally, psychologically, practically and scientifically.”
The Church, Peterson said, should remind people, including young men, “perhaps even first and foremost, that they have a woman to find, a garden to walk in, a family to nurture, an ark to build, a land to conquer, a ladder to Heaven to build, and the utter terrible catastrophe of life, to face stalwartly in truth, devoted to love and without fear.”
He continued: “Invite the young men back, say, literally, to those young men, ‘You are welcome here. If no one else wants what you have to offer, we do. We want to call you to the highest purpose of your life. We want your time and energy and effort and your will and your goodwill. We want to work with you to make things better, to produce life more abundant for you, and for your wife and children and for your community, and your country, and the world.’”
But there are problems in the Christian church, Peterson underlined. “We are more abundant, sometimes, far too often, corrupt, and sometimes deeply so. We’re outdated, as are all institutions with their roots in the dead but still often wise past.”
To the young men who are skeptical about such things, Peterson said, “What else do you have? You can abandon the churches in your cynicism and disbelief. You can say to yourself, narcissistically and solipsistically, ‘The church does not express what I believe properly.’ Who cares what you believe? Why is this about you? … What if it was incumbent upon you and vital to your health and willingness even to live to rescue your dead father from the belly of the beast, where he has always resided, and to restore him to life?”
Then he turned to the Protestant churches, and said, “You’re the worst at the moment.” Even Catholic and Orthodox churches should invite young men, he continued. “Put up a billboard saying young men are welcome here. … Tell those who have never been in a church exactly what to do, how to dress, when to show up, who to contact and, most importantly, what they can do. Ask more, not less of those you are inviting. Ask more of them than anyone ever has. Remind them who they are in the deepest sense, and help them become that.”
He concluded by saying, “You’re churches for God’s sake. Quit fighting for social justice. Quit saving the planet. Attend to some souls. That’s what you’re supposed to do. That’s your holy duty. Do it now, before it’s too late. The hour is nigh.”
After his message, which had more than 1 million views as of Sunday, Peterson received some criticism.
Tyler Huckabee, senior editor of the Christian magazine Relevant said in response: “We can all agree that modern life has a lot of pressure that is taking toll on all of us and the effects on men have been particularly difficult to understand and overcome, but Peterson’s prescription to this problem is basically the essay-length version of a ‘do better’ tweet, offering the same grab bag of warmed over ‘be a real man’ bravura you could find on pretty much any Facebook meme with John Wayne’s face on it. This sort of ‘try harder, guys!’ cheerleading may be helpful for some men, but it’s not ‘why the Christian Church is here’ and it’s certainly not the Gospel.”
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is that while “outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed day by day, for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4: 16-18). In other words, Peterson says we have to do more to be good. But the call of Jesus is to be more than good. It’s to be forgiven."

Spirit-Led Believing.

Why believers should be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Is on Your Side!
One of the major roles of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers is guidance. Jesus did not leave His disciples alone. He sent them another comforter who advocated, helped, and guided them in all their endeavors.
The Christian walk is spiritual. Our God is a spirit and those who worship Him must do that in truth and in spirit (John 4:24). The major challenge of most believers is how to migrate from the physical to the spiritual. It is the desire of every genuine believer to operate in the supernatural but most often we find it difficult to do so simply because we lack the proper knowledge and spiritual discernment.
The foundational step towards becoming sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit is to receive Him first. Jesus did not allow His disciples to venture into ministry without first receiving the Holy Spirit and they had to wait until they were endued with power from on high. He knew that they would have operated absolutely in the flesh and would have messed up their ministerial career without the presence of the Holy Spirit in them. “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:14).
It is obvious that sometimes we find it difficult to understand the leading of God, and other times we find it difficult to distinguish fleshy prompts from that of the Spirit. Accepting that we are mere limited mortals and asking the Holy Spirit for direction and guidance are surefire ways of escaping the consequences of bad decisions and unguided actions.
In my opinion, the church in Antioch was more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit than the church in Jerusalem. God used persecution to force them to obey His mandate to spread the Gospel. But the church in Antioch was sensitive enough to hear the Holy Spirit and obeyed immediately by sending Paul and Barnabas on a mission trip. “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them’” (Acts 13:2). Without hearing from the Holy Spirit, the church in Antioch would not have evangelized Asia Minor.
If believers are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, many calamities and disasters could be avoided. When Paul wanted to go to Bithynia the Holy Spirit stopped him (Acts 16:6). He then went to Macedonia and preached the Gospel there. He was able to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit who led him to understand the will of God for his ministry at that pointing time.
Sadly, many believers have deviated completely from God’s purpose and vision due to fleshly thinking. Sometimes we are led by the flesh but ignorantly claim that we are led by the Spirit. A quiet time in the presence of the Holy Spirit daily and constant awareness of the need for the Holy Spirit’s directives in all we do will inevitably help us to develop our spiritual nervous system which will enable us to respond positively to the Spirit’s prompting. After all, only the children of God are led by His Spirit (Romans 8:14).
