The President of Abuja Diocesan Women’s Conference and wife of the Primate, Mrs. Angela Eberechukwu Ndukuba, has called on Christian women to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, saying this is beyond knowing the Lord’s name or having head knowledge of Him.
Enumerating ways of knowing Jesus Christ to include receiving and accepting Him as one’s Lord and personal Saviour, she observed that some Christians claim to be too busy with things that do not have eternal value or lack personal contact with Him and as such lead a sinful life that does not please God. She noted that this has exposed such Christians to know Jesus Christ by name without experiencing the power therein.
Mrs. Ndukuba who spoke at the 23rd Abuja Diocesan Women’s Conference that ended on Sunday at St. Matthew’s Church, Gwarinpa, Abuja, called on Christian women to be bold and have faith in Christ, adding that Jesus Christ is the only refuge to run to for security and to quell the nation’s fears.
With the theme: “That I May Know Him,” taken from Philippians 3:10, the women leader appreciated the Primate, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, for his support of the women.
The Primate in his opening service noted that any Church with shaky women’s ministry cannot stand, adding that mothers, women and wives play vital roles in the shaping of any family’s faith.
He observed that a prayerful mother has much influence on the family and enjoined the women to focus on God and seek to know Him.
The Bible Study leader, Ven. Festus Nwafili, in his contribution, urged the women to have experiential knowledge of Jesus Christ, which according to him, comes with conversion and obedience to the Lord’s teachings.
Nwafili noted that experiential knowledge of Jesus Christ is a call to greater intimacy with God, adding that today’s Church is a mixed multitude, not just the body of saints, but of sinners.
Rev. Canon Nelson Akinwande, who did exposition on the character of Esther, described the name ‘Esther,’ as a Persian description of a ‘star’ while her Jewish name, ‘Hadassah,’ signifies peace, love and prosperity.
He also identified some extraordinary qualities that were accorded to Esther including an orphan with a difference, a virtuous young woman, a loyal queen, a sacrificial leader, a courageous woman, a godly leader and defender of the faith, and admonished the women to emulate her.
Akinwande said: “Dear mothers and women, in the same way, we are born into or grow in Christian families, Esther was born a Jewess. She demonstrated extraordinary qualities because of her godly upbringing in the knowledge of God.
“Our degree of God’s knowledge is proportional to how much exploits we are able to do in the family, church and the nation.”
The conference ended with thanksgiving by the various Archdeaconries.

Perhaps the most horrifying aspect of the transgender cult is the way in which the care of damaged children has turned into the abuse of damaged children.
There is ample evidence that most children who believe they are trapped in a body belonging to the wrong biological sex also tend to suffer from a range of other psychological problems, including autism, eating disorders and depression, in addition to confusion and distress over homosexual feelings.
What these children obviously need is therapeutic treatment for these disorders and help to achieve the psychological balance that has become so badly distorted. Instead, they have been subjected to often irreversible bodily alteration that leaves many if not most infinitely more damaged, both physically and psychologically.
Some American research suggests that suicide rates among children have spiked in states where they can access hormones and puberty blockers without their parents’ consent — and countless parents have been demonised as “transphobic” if they oppose such dangerous, devastating and inappropriate interventions.
By any civilised standard, this shocking betrayal by such therapists of their professional and ethical obligations to their patients — informatively discussed here, for example, by Kathleen Stock — should have resulted in their being struck off if not jailed.
Now another dimension to this horror has been identified by the feminist activist, Julie Bindel. On Unherd, she reveals a telling and important correlation — between the number of girls who have been the victims of sexual abuse in a British town, and the number of girls from that town who have been referred for transgender procedures.
This opens up a whole new can of worms...

The Crime That Is Thinking A Prayer.
When thinking a prayer became a crime
At first, it seemed too absurd to believe.
Surely, there must be more to the story than meets the eye.
It turns out that what was reported was quite accurate: a Christian pro-life leader in England was arrested not simply for standing in front an abortion clinic. She was also arrested for the crime of praying while standing there, even though she was simply praying in her own head.
Talk about being prosecuted for a "thought crime."
This really and truly happened.
In the words of Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, leader of the UK March for Life, "It's abhorrently wrong that I was searched, arrested, interrogated by police and charged simply for praying in the privacy of my own mind. Nobody should be criminalized for thinking and for praying, in a public space in the UK."
A pastoral colleague had sent me the report which stated,
"In yet another assault on Christianity in Britain, a pro-life activist was arrested for silently praying outside an abortion clinic in Birmingham, England."
Embedded in the article was a link to the Twitter account of Mary Margaret Olohan, which contained a video of the arrest.
In the video, the police officer asks Vaughan-Spruce politely, "Are you praying?" She responds, "I might be praying in my head." (Do I need to add my standard caveat, "I'm not making this up!"?)
At present, however, there is an additional note added by Twitter which states,
"The woman in the video, Isabel Vaughan Spruce, was not arrested for silently praying. She was arrested for breaking a temporary Public Space Protection Order on four separate occasions which was used to ban protests outside of an abortion clinic due to safety concerns." (The note is linked to this story).
That's what I had been wondering about when I read the initial piece and watched the video. Perhaps she was not allowed to be standing in front of the clinic at all? Perhaps that was her crime?
Despite the outrageousness of such a regulation, since it appears clear that she was not harassing anyone nor was her presence a threat to anyone, what if her presence was the issue, not her praying? Wouldn't that mean that the attention-getting headlines were not accurate? Wouldn't that mean that the very headline to this article was misleading?
It turns out that there are, in fact, Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) zones which protect abortion clinics and other places.
But, as noted in the official press release from the Alliance Defending Freedom U.K., "The censorship zone measure introduced by Birmingham authorities criminalises individuals percieved to be 'engaging in any act of approval or disapproval or attempted act of approval or disapproval' in relation to abortion, including through 'verbal or written means, prayer or counselling...'."
Accordingly, "Whilst in the police station, Vaughan-Spruce was shown pictures of herself outside the abortion facility. She said she could not recall from the pictures whether she was praying at these specific moments, or whether these had been taken at times that she was distracted and thought about other things, such as her lunch. She maintains that all her thoughts were equally peaceful and imperceptible and that none should be criminalised."
Yes, she was questioned as to whether she had been praying in her own mind.
This is not made up.
This is not the figment of Christian paranoia.
This is what literally took place.
In response to this outrageous arrest and interrogation, Jeremiah Igunnubole, Legal Counsel for ADF UK The ADF, stated that, "Isabel's experience should be deeply concerning to all those who believe that our hard-fought fundamental rights are worth protecting. It is truly astonishing that the law has granted local authorities such wide and unaccountable discretion, that now even thoughts deemed 'wrong' can lead to a humiliating arrest and a criminal charge."
In fact, the police actually "imposed restrictions, as part of her bail, on Vaughan-Spruce engaging in public prayer beyond the PSPO area, stating that this was necessary to prevent further offenses."
To paraphrase, "Thou shalt not pray, even in the privacy of your mind, anywhere near this abortion clinic!"
One month prior, on November 24, in Bournemouth, UK, "Local woman Livia Tossici-Bolt was praying quietly with a friend in a public space when she was warned by local authorities that their prayer could cause 'intimidation, harassment or distress', and was asked to move away."
To be clear, I have not been quoting from Orwell's 1984.
To the contrary, not even Big Brother could read our thoughts. Not even the Chinese Community Party of China can read its people's minds. Not even Kim Jong-Un of North Korea imprisons alleged dissenters for daring to think a thought. Only God Almighty knows the thoughts of people's hearts.
Of course, the British police didn't know what Vaughan-Spruce was thinking either, because of which they had to ask, "Are you praying?"
Oh, the crime! Oh, the horror!
"Yes, Officer, I confess! I am guilty, so guilty! I might have been praying in my mind!"
To repeat: This was not Orwell's 1984.
This was England in 2022.
Let that sink in.
In the days ahead, I would encourage every freedom-loving citizen of the UK to stand peacefully (and without obstructing others) in front of every abortion clinic nearby, engaging in silent prayer.
Numerous street preachers have been arrested in recent years simply for giving an honest answer to a Bible question or preaching out of certain biblical texts (most recently, see here). Now, Christian pro-lifers are being arrested for the crime of praying, either out loud or silently. Who can imagine what's coming next?
With confidence I can say this: if the Christians (and other freedom lovers) in the UK do not push back now, with grace, humility, kindness, and courage, there most certainly will be a "next."
The time to speak and act (and pray!) is now.

November 14, marked the 306th anniversary of the death of Gottfried von Leibniz, a German polymath, committed Lutheran, and one of the most wide-ranging intellects in all of history.

Leibniz was a child prodigy. At 13, he composed 300 hexameters of Latin verse in one morning for an event at school. In 1661, at 14, he enrolled in the University of Leipzig, completing a bachelor’s and master’s degree by 17. The following year, he earned a bachelor of law degree, and a doctorate in philosophy the year after that. When, that same year, the university turned him down for a doctorate in law, likely because of his youth, he left Leipzig for the University of Altdorf, presented his dissertation, and was granted a license to practice law. This was before he turned twenty.
Despite a busy legal and diplomatic career, Leibniz remained active in scholarly pursuits. Like many intellectuals of his time, Leibniz was engaged with Enlightenment thought and active in a variety of fields. As a thinker, he stands out for not only grasping the depths of contemporary philosophy but also contributing to them, all while remaining dependent on the authority of Scripture and the Church.
Leibniz is best remembered as one of the discoverers of calculus, along with Isaac Newton. The two developed this mathematical field independently. Though Newton more often receives the greater credit for his famous work, Principia Mathematica, it’s Leibniz’s notations that their successors have often found to be most precise.
Leibniz anticipated Einstein by arguing that space, time, and motion were relative. In fact, Einstein referred to himself as a Leibnizian and argued that Leibniz’s views would have won out over Newton’s had the technology of the day been more advanced.
Speaking of technology, Leibniz dreamed up a primitive computer that used marbles, punch cards, and binary numbers to make advanced calculations. He further described a machine that could, theoretically, do integral and differential calculus. In all these ways, he anticipated modern computers and even helped lay the foundation for their development.
Leibniz is also well known for his work in philosophy, particularly in relation to theology. He argued that since both reason and faith are gifts of God, the two fields, if properly understood, could not be contradictory.
Leibniz also argued for what came to be called “Optimism,” the idea that any flaw of our world must also exist in others. Quite unfairly, the French philosopher Voltaire misrepresented this idea in his famous book, Candide, as though it meant that everything is for the best in this, the best of all possible worlds. This is just close enough to Leibniz’s argument to sound plausible while at the same time being totally misleading about his philosophy.
Close to Leibniz’s heart was the reconciliation of Lutherans and Catholics. He had been born just two years before the end of the Thirty Years’ War, which was fought between Catholics and Protestants, primarily in Germany. Though a devout Lutheran, he held a deep appreciation of Catholic thought, and partly due to work toward reconciliation, he won the respect of high-level Catholics. He was even offered the prestigious position of curator of the Vatican library. To take it, Leibniz would have had to convert to Catholicism, and he didn’t want to “send a message” that Catholicism was better.
Leibniz’s work is so far reaching it is impossible to fully summarize in a brief commentary. In addition to his work in philosophy and theology, politics, law, history, and philology, he laid the foundation for modern analytic and linguistic philosophy and logic. He also anticipated developments in probability theory, computer science, geology, biology and medicine, linguistics, and psychology. The various elements within what was an incredible range of work were integrated together by his Christian faith, anchored in his belief in the Trinitarian Christian God. Stonestreet, Breakpoint.
