Whenever you finally catch out a misbehaving and probably mendacious child, the first response tends to be: "Well, I did BUT ..."Big word - innit?
The problem is that every time you get these 'big buts' you know that remorse is absent and repentance impossible.
The real problem is that it isn't just children!
