If there had been corporal punishment in place in the Nottingham school where science teacher Peter Harvey apparently attacked a pupil with a dumb bell, we are justified to wonder whether this zoo of a school might not have had to see the tragic incident which has led to Mr Harvey's trial.There is surely no teacher who has faced this kind of atrocious pupil behaviour on a regular basis who has followed this story and not murmured contemplatively to him/herself:
"There but for the grace of God go I."
The poorer classes in even the better comps can push you to the very edge of a mental breakdown.
