Scrap It - NOW! (Well Done, Dissenting Lord Brown!)

Unbelievably, 'four of five law lords yesterday (WED) rejected an appeal by Theresa May, the Home Secretary, who had been trying to save a law banning non-European spouses between 18 and 21 from entering Britain.
The four Supreme Court justices - Lord Phillips, Lady Hale, Lord Clarke and Lord Wilson - upheld a Court of Appeal ruling the ban was "arbitrary and disruptive".
But, in an unusual case of a judge speaking out against his peers, Lord Brown of Eaton-under-Heywood strongly disagreed with them, saying the law was needed to address the "appalling evil" of forced marriage.
The law was introduced under Labour in 2008 to help address the problem, following growing concern over British Asian girls being betrothed against their will to foreigners.
Campaigners against forced marriages described the ruling as a “complete blow” to efforts to protect vulnerable young people, days after David Cameron announced moves to tighten up the law on forced marriage.' (Telegraph.)
All but one agreed that the law should not trump Article Eight of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects the right to family and private life.
