Why So Opposed To The UK's Probation Service? - Part Four.

I remember a chat with a really pleasant lady who was a Probation Officer and I fear that she heavily represented the entire breed. I spoke disparagingly of the underclass and she went for me by the jugular! After several minutes of toing and froing -which was less than pleasant - a thought occurred to me.
I asked her this question: " How are you defining the word 'underclass'?
She replied that she meant those unfortunates who had 'slipped between the gaps in the social welfare system.'
Ah. All was explained. I had been talking about that parasitical, criminal social stratum who are totally anti-authority and who leech off the body of society with a host of attached anti-social actions.
But how could somebody in her position possess so little understanding?
The root of my complaint is that the recruitment policies of The Probation Service are designed to be an unmitigated disaster.
I would love to know precisely what percentage of the entrants to that profession do so with zero life experience and a marxist-inspired sociology degree clasped firmly in the left hand!
