Patricia Hodge: Out Of Touch And Silly.

Former Labour Minister Margaret Hodge came under fire last night after she appeared to excuse last summer’s rioters by saying they had ‘lost hope’.
The topic was raised on BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions?
Mrs Hodge, chair of the Commons Public Accounts Committee, interrupted a fellow panellist to say: ‘Are you suggesting that the riots last summer did not have legitimate causes?’
She added: ‘We all regret the damage that was caused but what you do have to understand is, the reason that young people were rioting across Britain was because they had lost hope in the future.’
