Welcome to
your new MEP newsletter, bringing you updates from the European Parliament and
beyond.
This new-look newsletter will be coming out each
month, keeping you up to date with what I’m doing in the European Parliament and
how I’m helping to fight against EU interference in our daily lives. This will
complement the regular weekly UKIP North East newsletters which go out once a
week to local Party members.
The Parliament isn’t in session in August,
so this newsletter covers my activity for June and July. Two dates for your
diary coming up: on Thursday August 27th I’ll be speaking at a public
meeting in Hartlepool (7pm, Seaton Hotel, Seaton Carew, TS25 1BX), and on
October 12th I’ll be joining Nigel Farage for a massive EFDD/UKIP
public meeting at Sage Gateshead. We’re hoping to make that the biggest public
meeting in the Party’s history. Weather permitting, I'll be joining our
campaign team for the Shotton & South Hetton by-election tomorrow morning
from 10am (meeting outside the Community Centre, rear of Bridge Road, Shotton,
DH6 2PQ). Lee Harris is a great candidate; let's make it a big turnout to give
him a helping hand!
I’ve spoken to Borders Agency staff in Calais and
seen first-hand their frustration over the immigration issues. I’ve been to
London and spoken at a cross-Party rally for electoral reform. I’ve responded
to over 10,000 emails from members of the public about the Transatlantic Trade
and Investment Partnership (TTIP) – the proposed EU-US trade deal. Getting
stories into the press has proved to be harder than usual over the summer
months, but oddly enough an article about me representing Great Britain at the
World Championships of the board game Stratego later this month did find its way
into the media. I’ve written my regular columns for the Journal and Huffington
Post, and will have one published in the next edition of Coastal View
News.
And finally, I’ve had the chance to take a quick holiday – so it's
been a quieter than average
month.
