We should perhaps give more credit to the left than we
do - indeed, on occasions, they can be quite brilliant.
Consider how:-
There is nobody better for: sneering, sarcasm,
contempt, self-righteousness and downright hubris.
They have turned malice from an unpleasant,
personal characteristic into a bitter, universal art form.
They are the masters of negative
propaganda.
Their intellectuals - so often accused of having no
practical skills whatsoever - are frequently salesmen of the highest order. They
could sell sour milk and rancid butter to the unthinking proportion of the
populace.
They argue superbly for: lost causes; issues which are
thoroughly undesirable; the immoral; the impractical as well as unadulterated
folly.
They congratulate themselves that their personal sense
of right and wrong, combined with a bafflingly engineered moral code, grants
them a degree of superiority which must always trump the democratic
voice.
They have well exceeded Lincoln's maxim: "You can fool
some of the people ..."
What leaves me utterly bemused is how
and why the electorate has let them get away with it for so
long!
