Women’s bodies are not for sale for aid in any circumstances says UKIP

The UKIP Deputy Chairman, Margot Parker MEP has expressed her disgust at reports women in Syria have been sexually exploited by men delivering aid on behalf of charities.
The East Midlands UKIP MEP, who sits on the FEMM, (The European Parliament Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality), said she was appalled a new report revealed men would trade food and gifts for sexual favours.
She said: “This is absolutely appalling. As if being in a camp isn’t bad enough, these women are having to tolerate this disgusting behaviour.
“I understand some women are refusing to go to distribution centres because people would assume they had offered their bodies for any aid they brought home.
“I am disgusted – some reports even say agencies have turned a blind eye to this despicable behaviour.
“It is also claimed warnings were made about this in 2015 – how on earth is this still going on.
“There must be zero tolerance adopted on such abuse – women’s bodies are not for sale for aid in any circumstances and steps must be taken to put a stop to this NOW. We cannot ignore this a moment longer.”
