In the middle overs, Root and Stokes were superb until both lost the plot within a few minutes of each other and were dismissed.
So many of the earlier batsmen had also cast their wickets away with abandon.
Well done NZ! You played really well - but there now needs to be an inquest into why so many England wickets were gifted to the opposition without cause.
Incidentally, the game should have ended a tie as the umpire failed to give a wide in the final over which was about two and a half feet above Jimmy Anderson's head!
