 Muslims in UK prisons represent a disproportionately large percentage of the prison population compared to their representation in the general population. While Muslims make up roughly 5% of the population in England and Wales, they account for 15% of the prison population. This disparity has led to concerns about potential social division and has prompted investigations into the reasons behind the increase in Muslim prisoners.
