Long-time Pakistan prisoner of faith Zafar Bhatti, has been acquitted of blasphemy and released from prison!
The surprise news came through this morning from Release International partners in Pakistan.
Zafar has been in Rawalpindi’s Adyala Central Jail since July 2012, when he was charged with sending blasphemous text messages—charges he always denied.
In May 2017 he was sentenced to life imprisonment. In December 2021 this was increased to the death sentence.
Release International’s CEO Paul Robinson said, ‘We are delighted to hear this news, and give thanks to God. It will be a real encouragement to our supporters who have been faithfully praying for Zafar and his family over many years.’
He added, ‘We would urge people to continue praying for his safety in the uncertain days ahead.’
