Threats to our fundamental freedoms are mounting, but we are doing something about it.
Our Amicus membership programme was born out of the origin of the word ‘Amicus.’ It comes from the Latin word for ‘friend’, and in the legal world in which we at ADF UK operate as a ministry, an ‘Amicus curiae’ is a friend of the court permitted to assist with a case.
By joining our Amicus Team, we’re inviting you to become a friend of our ministry and, crucially, a friend to those who are being punished and persecuted for their faith.
People like Päivi Räsänen, a member of parliament and devoted grandmother from Finland, criminally charged with “hate speech” for voicing her deeply held beliefs on the Christian view of marriage and sexuality.
Or Adam Smith-Connor, a father and army veteran from the United Kingdom, criminally convicted for praying in silence on a public street near an abortion facility.
Or Rodrigo Iván Cortés, a former Mexican congressman, punished under the law after speaking out in defence of biological reality — the fact that we are male and female.
Or Nada and Hamouda from Sudan, who had their marriage struck down by a Sharia court and faced punishment of 100 lashes and threats to their lives, simply because they converted to Christianity.
Or Shagufta and Shafqat from Pakistan, a Christian couple who languished on death row for seven years, convicted for allegedly sending a blasphemous text message, even though they can neither read nor write.
We exist because courageous clients like Adam, Nada, et al. exist.
Members of our Amicus Team further expand our advocacy efforts, building a world where all our fundamental freedoms are cherished.
Together, we stand up for these freedoms at major international institutions, in national courtrooms, and law-making bodies around the world.
