“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” (James 3:17-18)
It is important for Christians to remember we are not here to win an argument. The creation evolution debate can be one that sometimes we feel we need to win for the good of the kingdom of God. In reality, our best approach is to simply, in peace, provide a source of answers to people who are genuinely enquiring about God and their existence here on earth. Manning a Creation Discovery Centre for the last 5 years you get to see the full range of people’s attitudes from some who just want to argue to those who will objectively weigh the evidence presented. My approach is to answer questions that people really want answers to but to avoid debates where someone is only asking questions to trap you. The challenge for all believers is to sow in peace. But the creation issue is essential because evolution is a stronghold that sets itself up against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5). As I was writing this a visiting Chinese Malaysian family came into the Creation Discovery Centre (Tasmania). They knew nothing of Christianity or the Bible but politely listened and were very intrigued with our Chinese display. It opened up the chance to speak of what Jesus Christ did for all of humanity in his death and resurrection. Pray that what was sown (and received) in peace will reap a harvest in their lives as they departed with Chinese language tracts.
Creation Research seeks to provide information that positively points to the creator Jesus that we trust believers will use to sow in peace.
