Pray For Isabel.

Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, who was previously cleared in court and received a payout from police for being unjustly arrested twice for her silent prayers, has been CRIMINALLY CHARGED again.

Isabel has been under investigation since January for nothing more than her silent prayers and holding pro-life beliefs in a “buffer zone” on a public street near an abortion facility in Birmingham.

She is the Director of the UK March for Life and has volunteered for many years in support of women in crisis pregnancies. She has tirelessly served her community by providing charitable assistance to vulnerable women and children. Yet, she is being treated like a criminal due to the beliefs she holds within a public space that she was allowed to be in.

ADF UK is supporting her legal defence.

Isabel’s case exemplifies the dangers of “buffer zones.” Under UK law (
Public Order Act
), “influencing” someone’s decision to “access” abortion services is now a crime within 150m of any abortion facility. Isabel is the first person to be prosecuted under this law, which came into force on 31 October 2024.

“Buffer zones” are among the most concerning frontiers of censorship in the modern West. We all stand against harassment and abuse, but the “buffer zone” law broadly bans influence, which is being interpreted by police officers to target innocent people who happen to stand in a certain place and believe a certain thing.

We will continue to robustly challenge this unjust censorship and support Isabel’s right to think and believe freely, as is the right of every person in the UK.

This Christmas, will you stand with Isabel, a woman who has devoted her life to serving others? Your support ensures we continue our work to challenge the UK’s dangerous “buffer zone” law.
