I think that leaving my back door unlocked is very unlikely to lead to my house being burgled - for a variety of specific reasons.
Following some strange logic though, I choose to lock that door when I go out.

Now let us consider the 'mighty logic' of a supposedly intelligent man:

You say you believe in God? - Big deal! What precisely does that achieve for you?
Belief is not particularly relevant to anything - rather, it is what you do next!

The hand-wringing, sickening, leftist 'do-gooders' have had their day - sadly, it has lasted for over half a century.
We are now reaping what they - AND so-called liberal christians - have sown for several generations.
We are spiritually bankrupt.
We have lost the streets.
An emasculated police force is so bound in fears of being arrested  or sued or sacked that they have largely stood by and watched as these disasters have unfolded in our cities. On the occasions they have acted, they have been subjected to constant attacks. Last figure I heard was 114 police injured. ONE is too many!
A justice system which is anything but, awaits these countless low lives.

This Blog has long warned against the feral underclasses and there is NO political will to deal with them.
Words are NOT enough! We must tackle these outbreaks root and branch.
1) Large numbers of temporary prisons should be opened - with no luxuries.
2) Very long sentences MUST be imposed.
3) Water cannon and tear gas must be readily available to police for IMMEDIATE use.
4) Mounted police baton charges if needed.
5) Baton rounds for the hard core and
6) A shoot-to-kill policy if anybody is seen with a petrol bomb - before, during or after!
7) I personally would help administer birchings to these scum if nobody else could be found. (I suspect that there might be lengthy queues!) 
From their own mouths to the media they have revealed why they are acting as they are BECAUSE THEY CAN!
            BRING BACK FEAR!
Tragically, our politicians are chiefs amongst the apologists for this vermin and will do nothing and play straight into the hands of the BNP!
UKIP are tough and really would do most of what is needed.
Would the French Police stand by as ours have done?

YES I KNOW. Jesus loves every toerag on the streets and I fervently want to see every one converted. This does not happen in a vacuum or in the midst of chaos.

Mary Riddell.

An excellent piece by Mary Riddell in The Telegraph but there needs to be a full picture.
I lived in Franco's Madrid and saw peaceful demonstrators being charged down by baton-twirling police horsemen. So. Where are these in London when needed? Where are the watercannon? Where are the rubber bullets? Where is the tear gas?

Where are the eyewatering sentences for these rioters?

Where are the twenty year sentences for those who have incited this catastrophe?

Social order MUST always be kept. Short term issues cannot be given a long term solution in ten minutes!

Then - and ONLY when there is a total peace on the streets, can we start to ask 'Why'?

The Rich Young Ruler.

I have pointed out before that this man was the only person to approach Jesus in honest fashion but to leave disappointed.

Although the overall point itself remains valid, perhaps I can argue against myself to an extent by considering the young man's attitude to The Commandments which he claimed 'to have fully kept since childhood'.

This suggests that the word 'ruler' of older translations would show that his origins were in a Pharisee family.

The Pharisee Tradition seemed sold on the idea of 'outward show' and Jesus needed to show this young chap that if he had 'kept the commandments' then it was not necessarily in the right spirit.
In this there is a lesson for us all - Christianity is not all about keeping outer rules but has far more to do with what is in our hearts.

Deterrents or Not?

Having the death penalty would make murder rates rise? Are 5% of the population barking? (Mail On Sunday Poll.)
'Stay the same'?
Ask yourself a question. Have you ever parked illegally? - If the response is 'yes' then let me put this scenario before you:
If illegal parking carried a £10k fine, would you have done it? - The vast majority will answer 'no' but there would always be a tiny few who might just take the risk. Deterrence as a principle - proven.
If your life were threatened, and a firing squad awaited you for parking on a double yellow line, just how many people would then park illegally? (There would always - even then - be a handful.) But you KNOW exactly how people would respond.
Reconsider the scenario. In microcosm you have just proved DETERRENCE.
And in spite of downright lies on the topic by abolitionists - the statistics show this in spectacular fashion where murder rates are concerned - I know - I saw the stats when a JP!
If the facts of the loss of deterrent in the UK from 1964 were in the public eye, many - probably most of the 32% would change their view when they saw how many extra lives have been lost.
Had there been executions from 1964 until the present day - I suspect that there would have been fewer than 200. My rough calculations suggest that more than 15,000 EXTRA people have been murdered in that period not including the many hundreds murdered by those deemed to have 'served a life sentence' and have been released back into the population.
ASK WHY these stats are not published annually! The abolitionists are of the liberal left are in control and you must NOT be allowed to know the facts!
Many more than half of the people alive today cannot recall the changeover in 1965 because they weren't alive then. Amongst those of us who were, voting pro-death penalty would be in excess of 80% - as it always used to be.
There is a demonstrable answer to this deterrent issue. Take the homicides of the last 5 years and total them all up.
For the next five years make all murders capital and ensure that the very worst are actually executed. We may only be talking a few dozen.
Then at the end of the five years, tot up the number of homicides. I would personally wager my own life that there would be a major plummeting of the figures!

Recession.

If recession assails us once more, as now looks increasingly probable, we have a simple question to be asked:

'Will the UK 'ride the wave' better from inside the EU or from without?'

History indicates that as the EU is an integral part of the problem, it seems highly unlikely that it will be part of the solution!

On a broader field, it would be rather nice for the world not to have 'a leading economy' such as the one presided over by the terminally naive Obama.

Obama took office and presided over a massive rise in public spending which he was all too slow in recognising would need to be severely restricted.

To be fair to the man, I do believe that 'a dose of economic reality' may have brought him to some sort of 'epiphany' - but only time will tell.
