The Boris Deal With The EU.

2,000 pages? - I think I'll give the reading of that a miss but I do know a speed reader who can read at pace and has a deep knowledge of EU matters. I shall rely heavily on his assessment.

A few have correctly stated "the devil is in the detail." Well, we shall see.

Certainly, this deal is considerably better than the pathetic, limited, quasi-treacherous efforts of Mrs May. 

The fishing portion is, at best, average but with promises of huge investment in the industry, I shall not rush to judge - especially as we shall ultimately regain control of our waters over 5.5 years. Not ideal.

The trade efforts, at first sight, seem not dissimilar to Canada's deal with Brussels which would be pretty decent.

We certainly appear to have achieved more than I had thought possible, mainly because The EU was terrified of the threatened 'no deal'. They really did not believe BoJo was bluffing.

It is clear that this putative deal will be a huge improvement on the tawdry sell-out proffered by Theresa May.

Boris and Frost have obviously lost a certain amount of ground in the wrangling because of Covid. You cannot fight a major war on two fronts and Barnier knew this would be an issue. 

Politically, even a deal which is only 75% of what we would like to have seen will be regarded as a mighty triumph by the bored British public who have become sick unto death about the whole thing.

Interestingly, a large proportion of those who voted 'remain' will now also be prepared to take what has occurred - and will be content. So many voted thus only because they could not face the hassle and upheaval involved.

Remainers have now lost - in spite of all of their disgraceful antics and parliamentary posturing. 

If Boris can oversee a successful Covid vaccination programme - he will be forgiven by Joe Public. 'The man who got us a deal!' 

This is very bad news indeed for Labour's electoral future and quite possibly for the SNP. 

EU fears will now be realised as the UK marches economically forwards as the mighty trading force it truly should be.

More EU nations will watch our successes and will decide to follow us OUT.

This will still be the worst trade deal offered by Brussels to any nation worldwide but we shall still embarrass them as we will be largely unaffected by their inward-looking pettiness.

Am I pleased? - No. Without Covid - I am convinced that the deal would inevitably have been better.

Would we have accepted the current situation 5+ years ago? Well, of course we would. Back then we'd have taken a Norway-style alliance and rejoiced.

A reuniting of the nation is now inevitable with only the hard-line leftists left spitting and muttering.

Just think! If Labour and Lib Dems had actually thought instead of reacting with knee jerks - we would have effectively still been an abject slave of the EU today. 😁

Armenians say goodbye to their churches in Nagorno-Karabakh

It was a dire day for Father Hovhannes when he learned that the medieval Armenian monastery complex Dadivank in Nagorno-Karabakh would now go under the control of Muslim-majority Azerbaijan. The region of Qarvachar where the monastery is located would need to be vacated from Armenians within days.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a small, mountainous, landlocked area in the South Caucasus lying between Armenia and Azerbaijan, bordering Iran to the south. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Nagorno-Karabakh with a majority-Armenian population remained a disputed territory between the two post-Soviet countries. The two-year war came to a halt in 1994 with an indefinite ceasefire and Nagorno-Karabakh went under ethnic Armenians' control.

The new phase of the war lasted 44 days, ending in November of this year. Large parts of Nagorno-Karabakh passed into Azerbaijan's control and Russian peacekeepers were placed in the region for five years.

The military conflict ended with the fall of Shushi, a town overlooked by the 19th century Cathedral of the Holy Saviour. When the Azerbaijani army entered the town following the ceasefire signed on the night of 9 November, the cathedral was one of their first targets: the inner and outer walls were immediately vandalised by graffiti. The cathedral had already been heavily shelled and extensively damaged by the Azerbaijani Army, which among its militants had thousands of Syrian Jihadist mercenaries.

The early 19th century Church of St John the Baptist in Shushi saw its domes destroyed during the war, while the Church of Saint Mary built and consecrated more recently in the town of Mekhakavan was shelled and almost completely demolished.

Armenians in the region fear that their ancestral Christian heritage is now threatened under Azerbaijan's control. Father Hovhannes, the Abbot of Dadivank, says these fears are well-founded: in 1993, when Armenia won control of the territory, they discovered Dadivank and other holy sites desecrated. The walls of their churches and chapels bearing frescoes, engraved crosses and Biblical writings in the Armenian script had become shelters for animals.

"On 3 April 1993, after the liberation of Qarvachar and Dadivank, I was one of the first people who entered the monastery with the soldiers," Father Hovhannes recalls.

"It had been turned into a barn for animals. The interior was badly damaged. We started cleaning and restoring it. I washed all the engraved crosses myself. Thanks to many donations, Dadivank started thriving again!"

The first chapel of the monastery was founded in the 1st century by St Dadi who was the pupil of Christ's disciple Thaddeus. As Christianity spread in Armenia and was adopted as a state religion in 301AD, Dadivank kept growing over time and was completed in the 13th century. The grave of St Dadi was discovered under the holy Altar of the main church in 2007.

Surrounded by picturesque natural scenery, Dadivank is one of the symbols of the Armenian Christian heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh. Over the centuries it has withstood numerous attacks and remained one of the most-cherished holy sites for Armenians for pilgrimages, baptisms and marriages.

Father Hovhannes declared that despite security concerns, he was not going to leave the monastery, but would stay and ensure the holy site was not desecrated. He was soon joined by other clergymen from other churches.

Thanks to the efforts of the high-ranking Armenian religious leaders, Dadivank came under special protection of Russian peacekeepers. Armenians, however, were not consoled, knowing that this is only a temporary arrangement. They flocked into the monastery in hundreds to light a candle, pray and receive Father Hovhannes's blessings before the entire territory went under Azerbaijan's control.

Outside the monastery, Father Hovhannes was joined by Baroness Caroline Cox, a strong supporter of self-determination for the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"I have seen cathedrals badly damaged by bombs," Baroness Cox said. "It breaks our heart to be here today. We weep with you, but we want to say thank you to the people of Armenia and Artsakh (the Armenian name of Nagorno-Karabakh) because you have held in the frontline of faith and freedom, for the rest of the world."

The Christian heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh consists of churches, monasteries, chapels, cross-stones, frescoes, engraved religious writings dating back to the earliest stages of Christianity. The Department of the Armenian religious and cultural heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh at the headquarters of the Armenian Apostolic Church estimates that more than 100 pieces of this heritage are now transferring under Azerbaijan's control.

Fears that the Armenian Christian heritage will be eradicated under Azerbaijan's rule are partly based on the events in the Azerbaijani enclave of Nakhichevan.

Rene Levonian, an Open Doors spokesperson, said: "One hundred years ago the two-thirds of the population of Nakhichevan were Armenians. Today there are no Armenians there and the entire Armenian Christian and cultural heritage is almost non-existent. Thousands of ancient cross-stones – large rectangular stones with carved crosses – and hundreds of churches have been systematically subjected to vandalism and destroyed. It's why Armenian Christians have little hope for preservation of their heritage."

Following the recent war, evidence has started to surface of mass vandalism and desecration. Mobile phone footage and photos show churches and cathedrals badly damaged by shelling and vandalised with graffiti.

Other mobile phone footage shows troops – a mixture of Azerbaijanis and Syrian jihadist mercenaries – standing on church roofs shouting "Allahu Akbar". Armenian Christians reportedly exhumed coffins of their loved ones prior the expected arrival of Azerbaijani troops, fearing the worst.

Father Geghard Hovhannisyan is the Abbot of the ancient Amaras monastery, which was an education hub founded in the 4th century. The monastery was home to the first school where the newly invented Armenian script was taught in the 5th century. Father Geghard found it looted when he returned following the recent truce.

"It is very painful because the Azerbaijani militants have managed to enter the monastery," Father Geghard said. "The frescoes and many other valuable items are missing."

After negotiations, Amaras may remain under the Armenian control, but he fears that he will never see the artifacts again.

And as other Armenians load their belongings into trucks and vacate their villages and towns, it adds to the pain to say a final goodbye to their churches that are part of their identity, fearing what will become of them. CT.

Introduction of Euthanasia In Spain?

 Spain is set to become the fourth country in Europe and the sixth in the world to legalise euthanasia. 

Legislation backed by the ruling PSOE party was passed by Spain's parliament on Thursday.  It now needs final approval from the Senate to become law but is not expected to face any opposition there.

Once it has been approved by Senate, it is expected to come into effect in the first half of 2021.

The legislation was passed despite strong opposition from religious groups. As the vote was taking place, protesters gathered outside the parliament with placards that read: "Government of death."

The Spanish Evangelical Alliance issued a statement earlier this year saying that the government should help people with "hopelessness and pain", instead of legalising euthanasia. 

"The number of patients who consider euthanasia as an option diminishes drastically if the alleviation of pain is facilitated, and human accompaniment and resources to combat hopelessness is offered," it said.

At the moment, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands are the only European countries where euthanasia is permitted. CT.

GUY Verhofstadt, the former Belgian Prime Minister and long-term Brexit critic on social media, has been branded a "useful idiot" who underlines the reasons underpinning the UK's decision to quit the bloc every time he tweets. "Every time you tweet your open contempt for the UK you absolutely remind us why we voted to jettison overblown feudal mayors like you.

"For the UK Leave movement, you’ve been a supremely useful idiot."

Mr Verhofstadt had been motivated to post his somewhat inflammatory message showing images of large numbers of British lorries at Dover, having been barred from entering France.

Along with footage from the scene, he tweeted: "We forgot what borders look like.

At Prophecy Today UK, we believe that the nation of Britain, formerly a God-fearing nation, is now a nation under God's judgment. This decline in our national spiritual position has taken place over the course of a generation, not least through the passing of many unbiblical laws onto our statute books. Below is a list of these laws, courtesy of Issachar Ministries (updated November 2019).

UNGODLY LAWS PASSED IN BRITAIN SINCE 1950

1. 1951: The Fraudulent Mediums Act (Deut 18:10-13) abolished the Witchcraft Act 1735. This legalised witchcraft in Britain which had hitherto been banned for centuries and made all occult activities legal which the Bible condemns. Paul says that idolatry is the first step in the corruption of human civilisation (Rom 1:18-32).
2. 1959 and 1964: The Obscene Publications Act (Mark 7:21-23; Eph 5:4-6) coming into force in 1959 (and amended in 1964) was a weak law requiring proof that a publication had a tendency “to deprave and corrupt”. The amendment to the Act in 1977, and the Broadcasting Act 1990, extended the law to cinema and television respectively, preparing the way for an uncontrolled internet.
3. 1967: The Abortion Act (Gen 4:10-11; Ps 139:13) showed society’s total disregard for the principle that human life is sacred as the gift of God from the time of conception. The death penalty for murder had been abolished in 1965 but this Act said it was acceptable to kill unborn babies. About 574 abortions take place daily in British hospitals, bringing to more than nine million the number of unborn children killed since abortions became legal.
4. 1967: The Sexual Offences Act (Lev 18:22; Rom 1:18-32) legalised homosexual acts between consenting men of the age of 21, which was reduced to 18 by the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. The Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000 later equalised the age of consent at 16 for both homosexual and heterosexual acts.
5. 1968: The Theatres Act (Prov 15:26; 1 Thess 4:7) virtually abolished ‘censorship of the theatre’, although public performances of plays require licensing, and obscene performances are prohibited. The Act allowed nudity and explicit sexual acts on stage.
6. 1969: The Divorce Reform Act (Mark 10:2-12) opened the way for easier divorce by introducing the principle of the irretrievable breakdown of marriage as the sole ground for divorce, to be proved by adultery, unreasonable behaviour, or desertion; or by two years' separation with consent to a divorce, or five years' separation without consent to a divorce.
7. 1972: The European Communities Act (Deut 27:17; 32:8) and subsequent related legislation took Britain into the European Economic Community (EEC), and later into the European Union, thereby giving away our sovereignty and control over our borders and our laws. The implementation of Brexit, beginning with the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, is still in progress.
8. 1989: The Children Act (Deut 4:9; 6:6-7) aimed to increase the protection of children, but it effectively removed the traditional concept that parents are the best judges of their children's welfare.
9. 1990: The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act (Ex 23:7; Ps 106:37-40; Ecc 11:5; Jer 7:31) reduced the age at which an unborn baby could be aborted to 24 weeks and legalised the abortion of ‘disabled’ babies up to birth. Along with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (Research Purposes) Regulations 2001, it also legalised the creation, storage and use of embryos for licensed laboratory research.
10. 1993: The National Lottery etc. Act (1 Tim 6:10) instituted a State national lottery, effectively encouraging people to gamble and to increase their level of personal debt.
11. 1994: The Sunday Trading Act (Ex 20:8-11) allowed widespread trading on Sundays which went against the biblical principle to observe a day of rest each week. Sunday became just another day like any other, inevitably weakening family life.
12. 1996: The Family Law Act (Mal 2:16; Matt 19:8) replaced the five grounds for divorce in the Divorce Reform Act 1969 with a so-called ‘no-fault’ divorce system. This part of the Act was later repealed but those in favour of this change continue to lobby hard.
13. 1999: The Finance Act (Isa 61:8; Mal 2:13-15) removed the Married Couple’s Allowance for under-65s, further degrading the value of marriage.
14. 2004: The Gender Recognition Act (Gen 1:27; 2:23; Isa 5:20) granted transsexual people legal recognition as members of the sex opposite to their birth gender, either male or female.
15. 2004: The Civil Partnership Act (Matt 19:5; Eph 5:3) granted civil partnerships rights and responsibilities very similar to that of civil marriage.
16. 2005: The Gambling Act (Prov 13:11; 1 Tim 6:9-10) substantially deregulated the gambling industry, allowing betting shops, slot machines, internet gambling and gambling adverts to proliferate.
17. 2006 and 2010: Equality Acts (1 Cor 6:9-10) The 2006 Act created the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the 2010 Act drew together all the other acts that had relevance to equality and human rights and brought British law into line with EU Equal Treatment Directives.
18. 2008: The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act (Gen 2:24; Deut 6:4-9; Matt 19:4-6) recognised same-sex couples as legal parents of children conceived through the use of donated sperm, eggs or embryos, and replaced the reference to the need for “a father" with “supportive parenting”. It also legalised the creation of animal-human hybrid embryos for research and paved the way in 2015 for Britain to be the first country in the world to lawfully allow embryos to be genetically modified to have three or four parents.
19. 2013: The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act (Rom 1:18-32; 1 Cor 7) redefined traditional marriage which had always been between a man and a woman. It allowed two persons of the same gender to enter into legally recognised marriage. This Act crossed a red line in British parliamentary history and came fully into force in 2014.
20. 2019: The Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education, and Health Education (England) Regulations (Gen 2:24; Deut 6:4-9; Prov 22:6; Matt 19:4-6) were made under the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and were notably introduced with the intent that primary schools were to be strongly encouraged to cover LGBT content in their teaching, with no parental opt-out.
21. 2019: The Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act (Gen 2:24; Ps 106:38; Isa 10:1-2; Matt 19:4-6) was passed in Westminster in the absence of a functioning devolved government, taking advantage of Northern Ireland’s political weakness to impose abortion and same-sex marriage on a province that historically has held to biblical values more faithfully than the rest of the UK.

...or more demotically, how Eton has trashed its brand

Much of the comment about the sacked Eton teacher, Will Knowland, has focused upon the dire implications for freedom of speech at the UK’s most prestigious and historic school.

Eton fired Knowland for posting on his own YouTube channel a video entitled “The Patriarchy Paradox”. In this video, he attacks feminism and its obsession with patriarchal power, extols masculine courage and the nuclear family, distinguishes between chivalry and machismo and makes certain assertions about the differences between men and women and their respective life roles and experiences. His video is a full-throated defence of a traditionalist viewpoint about the sexes that is shared by millions of people. Undoubtedly, it would also be vehemently rejected by others. 

The criticism that it isn’t objective, however, misses the point. It was not intended as a factual lesson but as an argument to be balanced against contrary views. Eton first told Knowland he couldn’t advance this argument in a floor debate because of Covid; when he suggested a video debate, he was told no again; and so he said he'd run it on his YouTube channel instead.

Eton claims it is committed to freedom of speech and only sacked Knowland because of the disciplinary offence he is said to have committed, presumably by refusing to remove the video from his YouTube channel.

The importance of this issue, though, goes beyond freedom of expression or the apparent injustice done to this teacher (the result of whose appeal to the Provost against his dismissal is due imminently). For Knowland produced his video to counter what he perceived to be a noxious, one-sided agenda of identity politics being imposed upon the school by its headmaster, Simon Henderson. 

A  number of parents of boys at the school have expressed their concerns about the effects this agenda is having on their sons: 

One parent said children were being indoctrinated by a “partisan, political" Woke agenda, which involves contested ideas about gender and race being presented as fact with any opposing view silenced for being politically incorrect. 

One presentation, entitled a “sex positivity, feminism and pornography workshop’”, was given to boys as young as 13 and 14. The session was run by a group called the School of Sexuality Education. The “guiding principles” on its website include:

the promotion of “intersectionality”, which holds that “gender and sexual-based power inequities’"combine with “age, disability, sexuality, race [and] class”to create oppression.

The group — which boasts of holding classes for thousands of pupils — says that is “committed to the process of decolonisation” and references New Zealand by its Maori name, Aotearoa. In a separate section of the website, the group announces its approach is to “support students to question social and cultural norms around gender and to develop gender equitable attitudes”.

…One mother, who has a son and several other relatives at the school and asked to stay anonymous to protect them, said: “Parents are really concerned about the pushing of age-inappropriate sexual content to children below the age of consent.”

Parents also spoke out about other workshops that the school has been running about issues of gender and masculinity, including from a group known as the Good Lad Initiative (GLI). The organisation, which carries out talks in hundreds of schools, aims to challenge "toxic masculinity” — the concept that society requires men to act in particular ways that are harmful to themselves and others.

However, parents raised concern about the content of some of its sessions. The unnamed mother who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “One mum called me and said her child had phoned her and asked whether it was still ok to be a boy and like rugby and rock music.” Another parent said that in one workshop young boys were asked to role play “coming out as straight”, which one parent claimed left some pupils approaching their teachers in distress.

Knowland has also had considerable support from Eton boys. A group of pupils wrote a petition to the school’s Provost and Fellows protesting at his dismissal and supporting his presentation of material in the video. They  wrote: 

…the problem cannot lie in the way he sets out the ideas, but in the ideas themselves…Mr Knowland is being dismissed for having a different view to the view of the majority. His view is not very uncommon or exceptional. It is simply different…Are the boys also bound by the same restrictions to expression? Should boys who express the same idea as Mr Knowland expect to be similarly dealt with? 

Good question. The boys wrote that Henderson had told them how he decides what kind of ideas are “illegal”: 

For him, anything that can be deemed “hostile” by any single member of one of the school’s designated minority groups will be censored. We think this test is too severe. Young men and their views are formed in the meeting and conflict of ideas. A conflict of ideas necessarily entails controversy and spirited discussion. The Head Master’s “hostility” test excludes nearly all of what makes up a liberal education.

Quite so. These boys really do get it.

Further corroboration of Knowland’s views about the school’s “woke”agenda has come from an Eton theology teacher, Dr Luke Martin. He has resigned his role as leader of the “perspectives” classes (the series for which Knowland’s presentation was originally designed) accusing Henderson of presiding over an atmosphere of “religious fundamentalism”. Martin, who called for Knowland’s reinstatement, said he didn’t agree with his views but added: 

Why should I? The point of perspectives is that boys are exposed to various perspectives, some of which they will disagree with. 

There is a growing promotion of a so-called ‘progressive’ ideology, which claims to be inclusive, tolerant and kind. But what has dawned on me over the last few years is that it is remarkably similar, in a particular respect, to the forms of religious fundamentalism that I'm familiar with. If you disagree with it, you're excluded; if you think differently, you're not tolerated; and if you raise objections, you're mocked or face formal discipline.

I've become increasingly concerned that some schools, including Eton, are moving towards a point where it will be accurate to say that they are trying to indoctrinate their students into this worldview.

Other parents, though, who presumably endorse this “progressive” worldview, have supported the school, with one mother praising it for trying to teach privileged Etonians to be “kind”.

But identity politics does not promote kindness. It imposes power and trashes its victims. Promising tolerance, it is intolerant of any dissent from its own world-view. And far from relieving the pressure on potentially vulnerable minorities, such as gay or black pupils, it singles them out for pressure.

Black Christian boys at the school have reportedly been made to feel uncomfortable. One such pupil was apparently laid off with stress, having been repeatedly put up to discuss racism during the school’s Black History Month.

In another case, a  former pupil who joined at the same time that Henderson started as headmaster wrote that his decision to come out as gay had been made much worse by Henderson’s agenda: 

As this culture consolidated, with the notion of “protected groups”, gay people at Eton became seen not as individuals who happened to be gay, but as part of a monolithic community with the same aims, the same politics and the same beliefs. As a result of this shift, and a sense of being labelled or categorised, I no longer felt able to come out, and ultimately I spent another miserable year and a half in the closet.  

Eton is far from alone in imposing this agenda. The girls’ independent boarding school, Roedean, has said it will decolonise its history lessons: 

It will now become one of the first private schools to rewrite its history syllabus, abandoning the “island story” beloved of Michael Gove and challenging the “white western narrative” after this year’s Black Lives Matter protests. Girls will learn about black Tudors, Queen Victoria’s black goddaughter and how Africans helped to resist the slave trade. As well as the Norman Conquest, they will have lessons on the Song dynasty that ruled in China from 960 to 1279. Pupils will be encouraged to see the Second World War in a global context, examining how it was experienced in countries other than Britain. They will also study global societal changes in the postwar era.

U.S.—According to ultrasound technicians around the country, unborn babies are disguising themselves as death row inmates so that liberals will defend their right to live.

The babies got the idea from how major media networks reliably frame their coverage of state executions of death row inmates, no matter the details of their depraved and demonic crimes they committed while they were alive and free.

RURAL TEXAS—Elon Musk is at it again, and this time he's created a vehicle that runs exclusively on liberal tears. 

The Tesla Trans-400 is set to become the most energy-efficient vehicle the world has ever seen. Running on pure, 100 percent vegan-fed tears, Tesla’s newest creation is rumored to drive for over 6,000 miles between fill-ups. 

"I had no choice but to build this vehicle," Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview. "Look, everywhere I go I'm surrounded by liberal tears. I try to save the planet with electric cars, liberal tears. I moved to Texas to avoid California's crippling regulations, liberal tears. So as always, I work with what I've got. And right now I've got a whole lot of liberal tears."

Liberals did not take the news well since yet another perfect vehicle that will save the planet has been produced by a man who isn't a raging leftist. Thousands of Democrats took to the streets Wednesday to protest, but they all eventually just ended up crying it out together. Tesla didn’t miss a beat and sent several employees to collect the liberal tears for later use. 

Musk’s company hopes to have the Trans-400 on the road by late 2022, which will be perfect timing since the supply of liberal tears is expected to skyrocket ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.
