Why, oh why, oh why are we still discussing the reasons for juvenile stabbings et al? - Reasons are simple and straightforward although clearly, there are plenty of them.
1] Loss of a moral framework in a corrupt and debased society largely stemming from
2] The downgrading of the Christian faith and
3] Appalling parenting, producing spoilt and ill-disciplined children across the class divide as well as
4] Loss of respect for authority, largely due to do-gooder and politically correct activity.
These are the reasons.'Poverty' as inevitably alleged by traditional lefties is not and never has been a cause in its own right - it is merely a fertile medium in which the other negatives can flourish and grow. [Even absolute poverty does not produce crime waves in objectively poor countries.]
Underpinning all of this is society's failure to instil fear into every individual.
When any punishment fails to have an equivalent value to the crime committed, not only do you lose any deterrent effect for the perpetrator and those who would imitate him, but, of equal importance, you also lose the moral high ground.
The problem is that when you get the first 4 points so badly wrong, you are only left with tough punishments as an immediate response.
The damage done may be impossible to rectify and if something can be done, could easily take decades to achieve.
