Beatings, Rape, Miscarriage. Will Justice Be Seen To Be Done?

'A Punjabi Christian woman miscarried twins after she was beaten by men trying to silence her for accusing them of raping her niece.
The group of men raided the woman's home in a village in Narowal district and attacked her and her family just a few weeks after they allegedly gang-raped her 13-year-old niece.
The men are alleged to have issued repeated threats to the teenager's family – in an attempt to silence them. They had also reportedly seized a piece of land belonging to the family to try to deter them from pressing charges.
Local police were slow to register a case against the alleged attackers, who reportedly include the son of a former police chief. Ten suspects were later arrested but were released on bail. Christians are a tiny minority in the village and fear that justice may be denied them.' (Release Int.)
