Eleven Baptists including a 17-year-old youth have been fined the equivalent of two months' average wage in Turkmenistan – for attending a worship meeting.
Judges fined members of the Path of Faith Church in the northern city of Dashoguz on Monday, a week after their Sunday service in a private home was raided.

The previous weekend, 15 Christians who had gathered at the home of the Shirmedov family were taken away for questioning, while officials seized Christian literature. They beat 68-year-old Kerime Ataeva, Pastor Begjan Shirmedov's wife, until her hands bled.
