Privatisation.

There have been a number of commentators of late who have claimed that privatisation is responsible for higher prices in energy and such like.
Whereas there is a certain logic to this, I wonder if they have brokered in the catastrophe which befalls us all when, not only do nationalised industries fail to make a profit - they actually make losses which have to be paid for by the taxpayer?
