Ashamed.

Yesterday, I went to the funeral of an old lady whom I have known for many years. Rarely have I met someone who cared more for other human beings than Joyce did.
When, after my Dad's death, my Mum came to live with us for the last five and a half years of her life - Joyce recognised how difficult it would be for her in a strange town and went out of her way to befriend her.
The care she showed to others was always exemplary.
Her love of God was demonstrated in her actions to others. Her  faith was real - alive. Just being in her presence lifted your spirits.
God insisted that we should 'love our neighbours' - and she did!
When I compare her life to mine - I wish that my faith showed through half as well as did hers.
Indeed, such a dramatic contrast do I see - I actually feel ashamed. Other believers echoed this same sentiment to me after the funeral.
Without Joyce, the world, in its way, will be a poorer place. I shall miss the hugs and pecks on the cheek you always gave to me when you spotted me at church. I just know that your love for Jesus put mine in the shade. Enjoy your heavenly reward - you deserve it!
