Clegg Slammed In Yorks Post Letter!

From: Barrie Frost, Watson’s Lane, Reighton, Filey.                                                        DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg has pledged to block any fresh attempts to curb immigration from the European Union, despite the fears of British people that
the lifting of access restrictions on Bulgarian and Romanian nationals could lead to many thousands of immigrants entering Britain.“What would happen,if tonight every European living in the UK boarded a ship or plane and went home? Are we keen to see the back of German lawyers, Dutch accountants or Finnish engineers? Do we want the NHS to fall over and the City of London to grind to a halt?” he asks. But there is no possibility of this happening, and why he raises such a silly and completely irrelevant subject is impossible to understand. The British people are not worried about the immigrants who have brought their skills and hard work and provided many benefits for them and their country, indeed they are grateful to them. They are, however, very concerned that thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of uninvited and largely unskilled immigrants from Eastern European countries may receive unrestricted access to our country which could seriously swamp many essential services.Former Labour Home Secretary Jack Straw says we have not learned the lessons following the influx of thousands of migrants from Eastern Europe (711,000 in eight years, against a prediction of only 40-100,000) almost a decade ago, after the decision to drop immigration restrictions in 2004, which he described as a “spectacular mistake”.Mr Clegg would prefer, apparently, to risk this happening again, to impose misery on our own people, rather than oppose EU diktats which say Britain must accept such immigration. If such numbers do come to Britain, the impact on services such as schools, hospitals, jobs, housing etc will be catastrophic, yet Britain’s MPs, according to
EU laws, have no say in the matter. But, will Mr Clegg be affected if such mass immigration occurs? Certainly, the education of his children will not suffer as he can afford to send them to their chosen private school. And, medical care?Again, not a problem, for their private health care, medical and dental, will be unaffected,.Housing shortages cannot possibly trouble him as Mr Clegg lives in Cloud Cuckoo Land anyway. No, it will be the normal people, once again, who will be worried, which may explain Mr Clegg’s sanctimonious outpourings.
