... in one regard, the electoral one, the Kipper complaint of an establishment stitch-up to keep them out of power is perfectly correct. First-past-the-post really is a conspiracy between the Conservatives and Labour against smaller rivals and against the electorate. It needs to change. Because an electoral system that could well leave a party with 2.5 million voters holding just 2 seats in the legislature is a poison that could kill faith in representative democracy.
I'm not advocating any particular alternative here. They all have their flaws. I'm simply saying that FPTP must go. The injustice that Ukip will experience at the general election will simply prove that need yet again. James Kirkup. Telegraph.
