Labour's Mega Faux Pas.

Ian MearnsLabour use ‘bizarre and desperate’ smear tactics against UKIP

A Labour Party attack on UKIP went spectacularly wrong this afternoon after Gateshead’s MP Ian Mearns claimed John Tennant, UKIP’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Gateshead, had got the date of the election wrong on a leaflet.  The leaflet did indeed suggest voting UKIP on ‘Thursday May 6th’.
Labour’s Ian Mearns MP sent out “Try May the 7th – that is all” to his supporters on Twitter.  But it turns out that he was actually posting a picture of a leaflet from five years ago in 2010, when the election was actually on May 6th.
The Daily Telegraph briefly published the story, only to take it down when they realised their mistake.  But not only did Ian Mearns MP not apologise, at the time of writing he has still not removed the post from his Twitter feed.
John Tennant said “Labour are now resorting to increasingly desperate tactics in their attacks on UKIP.  No-one is going to fall for this rubbish, but it just goes to show how terrified they are that the People’s Army of UKIP is on the march.”
