The Brown Hare.This lovely, native animal is heading rapidly towards oblivion. I am not
someone especially against hunting foxes - or of any other vermin, come to that -
but the one third of hunts which target hares MUST be stopped.
Shooting of hares must be limited to a handful of licensed individuals and only for the protection of farmers' crops where they are being ravaged by the animal. (It is interesting that as foxhunting has been effectively banned - the situation with foxes taking leverets has greatly worsened.) Action is needed very soon as extinction is only one generation
away.
