Questions must be asked:
1) Why did the skipper, after winning the toss, allow Pakistan the best of the batting condions and deny England the best bowling conditions on Day One?
2) How can England continue without a proper spinner in their attack? - Could not all-rounder Borthwick have been drafted in so that we had a fairly decent leg-spin bowler in the eleven?
3) Why was he not used as a replacement to remove the ineffectual James Vince from the lineup?
4) Can England continue relying on Ballance and Hales whose batting performances are patchy at best?
5) Would it be reasonable to send all these overpaid players on an intensive one week's course to practise their catching with persistent horns, shrill klaxons and a harsh voice shrieking at them eight times a minute, "Catches win matches" during ten hour long, daily, catching practice sessions?
