William Hague: EU workers, yes. Benefits, no: My terms for Brexit if I was Prime Minister. Telegraph. (If 'I were' - surely! Subjunctive, innit?)
Oh, dear. Nothing like enough! This still allows foreign workers to plunder the jobs of British workers when we already have a surplus of workers to the majority of jobs.
This makes things even worse for our prospectless youngsters and to what purpose? To be nice to Brussels?
What a silly statement. Only with control over our borders can we ensure that this does not happen.
We need to be able to filter out: chancers, criminals, potential terrorists, people who risk public health, surplus workers, political and religious extremists, as well as health tourists. It is NOT the role of a British government to worry about the feelings and ambitions of people who are not our own citizens.
It is the job of government to do the best job it can for our people. If you are feeling charitable - we have our foreign aid budget. How about using that to target foreign peoples living in absolute poverty? - (That would be a novel approach, indeed.)
William, you have been a grave disappointment to me.
Returning to the main issue, however, immigration should be restricted to only those who are bringing advantages into our nation plus a measured portion of heavily-screened, genuine refugees. Even they should only be granted temporary status until such time as their country becomes safe to live in again. (Should that not occur, citizenship to be considered only after seven years of crime-free residence.)
