Career diplomat Sir Tim Barrow is set to become the UK's new
ambassador to the European Union in Brussels.Former ambassador to Russia will
take over the crucial role following the surprise resignation of Sir Ivan Rogers
just weeks before the expected start of Brexit withdrawal negotiations.
Prominent Brexiteers Iain Duncan Smith and Peter Lilley accused Sir Ivan
of "sour grapes", while Tory MP Dominic Raab said that the senior diplomat's
"heart hasn't really been in Brexit" and his resignation would be "quietly,
cautiously and respectfully welcomed at the top of Government"
