Mr Coburn said “demands” for a multi-billion
pound Brexit divorce bill by European
Union chiefs were due to
“necessity” because the Brussels bloc was “broke”.
Speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the leader of Ukip in
Scotland sparred with German MEP Elmar Brok, who said the EU was not a “golf
club” that the UK could just leave.
Mr Coburn said: “Surely Mr Brok, it’s not a matter of ‘right’ that the
European Union demands this money, it’s a matter of necessity, would you not
agree with me?
“Because you are broke.”
